Why I continue my study in University level

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Fahmi Nur Ashari. Now I am continue my study to higher degree in one of University on Pontianak, that is Tanjungpura University, exactly on civil enginering in Engineering Faculty. I am continue to higher degree wich has possibility to people said “ It doesnt exact with my condition”. How could they say that? Well, I have no basic at civil engineering. LOL. So, why I try to choose civil engineering? And, what the reason I choose that major to a higher degree?

Wait, before answering all of the questions, I‘ll tell you about my educational background:

1.    TK Raudhatul Athfal Pontianak (1999/2000-2000/2001)

2.    SD Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak (2000/2001-2006/2007)

3.    Madrasah Tsanawiyah  Negeri 2 Pontianak (2007/2008-2010/2011)

4.    Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Pontianak (2010/2011-2013/2014)

That is a little story about my educational background. So, where the relationship between major that i choose and my educational background? And why i choose to continue to higher degree on that major?

Now I will give you the answers of those two questions up there. The first questions, “what a relationship between major that I choose and my educational background?”. Maybe if we see on my educational background, there is no relationship with major that I choose. But, it doesn’t make me pessimist. In my mind “as long as hard I try, with my ability and accompanied with pray to Allah SWT, easy will come”. That words make me sure to execute what i choose. That words I get from my parents who always and never tired to support me when I feel down.

And the second questions, “why I choose to continue my higher degree and take the major is civil engineering?”.The reason is my parnets always ask me to continue my study to higher degree. My parents said, you have to get your advance study in a college. God bless is always be there. Honestly, I prefer to work when I got my high school graduation. I guess, I have to help my parents. But I’m wrong. I’ve just understand that my parents are hoping the best for their children. And better than them indeed.

I am the third child of four siblings, soon of a theacer and housewife. My brother, now being a theacer, same with my sister, whojust a different year with me. At that time, my big sister is going to continue her higher study. And my littler sister, at that time is going to her junior high school. Therefore, I think not to continue my study to higher degree, but trying to get work and burden my parents. But the destiny said different. I get the motivation from my parents to continue my study to higher degree. And this is me, a student from engineering faculty on Tanjungpura University.

And now my passion is, “trying, endeavor and pray”, how can i finish my degree as soon as possible, getting persue, and burden my parents after that i could make my parents happy).

By quoting one of quran verses, that is Q.S Ar-Ra’d : 11:

“For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession, before and behind him: They guard him by command of Allah. Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves (with their own souls). But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find, besides Him, any to protect”
